The Role of Lighting in Interior Design

Designing the right kind of lighting plays a major role in interior design. Lighting creates the desired atmosphere in a space and ensures its functionality.A single space should have several different light sources, which can be combined to adjust the lighting as needed.

Indirect lighting is excellent for creating ambiance and can also highlight beautiful architectural elements. This lighting style is based on the principle that the light source is not directly visible; instead, the light is reflected into the space via, for example, the ceiling or a wall. This creates even and soft lighting that does not cause glare and reduces eye strain. Indirect lighting can be used, for example, to illuminate the entire ceiling surface so that the indirect lighting serves as general lighting for the entire space or as softer mood lighting.

Indirect lighting is easy to achieve using a cove. In this case, the cove is installed at the top of the wall near the ceiling, and a light strip is installed inside the cove. When the cove is installed close to the ceiling line, a precise and narrow strip of light is created. On the other hand, if you want a more spacious and softer indirect light, leave more space between the light strip and the ceiling. It’s a good idea to involve an interior designer in the lighting design, because as a professional, they can help you determine what kind of lighting best suits a specific space.

We installed indirect lighting in our bedroom using a WallArk Lighting 1light strip. We mounted the light strip high on the wall near the ceiling, but left enough space between the strip and the ceiling so that the light can beautifully reflect off the ceiling into the room. We connected the light strip to a dimmer, which allows us to adjust the brightness of the light and create a mood in the room that depends on the time of day and our needs! There are many different types of light strips, and it’s important to choose one that complements the rest of the interior design. An interior designer can help with this to ensure the final result is cohesive, aesthetic, and harmonious. At the same time, we installed mirrored panels on the wall using WallArk Panel 1and Panel 7molding strips.
